I saw this back in August last year. You need to take this with a grain of salt. More likely they found a similar sword (or swords) that was roughly from the same time period.

Relics were big business during the middle ages, especially religious relics. Many merchants would travel around the countryside selling "genuine" fragments from Jesus' cross, or a piece of cloth that he purportedly wore. Many of these items ended up in cathedrals and monasteries.

This sword is no different. It's still impressive and significant; just approach it with a healthy dose of skepticism.

The legend goes that if you can remove the sword from the case..You will be escorted out by security.

I went to the top of that tower on an extremely windy day. Only a few of us would stand in the open. Me, a couple english people, and a couple germans. If we jumped up, I bet the wind could have taken us off the tower and down the cliff it sits on.

We all traded phones to take each others pictures. It was a neat little multicultural moment
