Nothing crushes kids like the sound of those sirens and actually having to take position and watching us scramble around.
We had one right as buses were supposed to leave. All the kids were terrified and crying. Normal bad ass middle school bullies reduced to tears in the hallway.
And then there were always a few like this Billy kid... head up, smiling, trying to peep out windows, asking to go to the bathroom, asking for snacks...
I threatened to tie my Billy to a rope and leave him outside the doors and let him fly like a kite. He asked for the rope because he thought that sounded great, then got mad when I said I was joking. Dammit Billy.
