Haber said the vehicle that Jordan was in backed down the road toward the officers "in an aggressive manner." An officer fired at the vehicle and struck Jordan, who was pronounced dead at a hospital, Balch Springs police said in a written statement.

The officer, who has not been named, has been placed on administrative leave. No officers were injured.

Neighbors said there were about 100 teens at the party Saturday night. Dora Daniels, who lives on Baron Drive, said the partygoers were blocking people's driveways and that her son called police to ask them to check out the party because of possible underage drinking.

Daniels said she wasn't sure whether there was alcohol at the party.

One officer came by at first, and kids began to scatter "like ants," Daniels said. A second officer arrived soon after.

Lisa Roberson, who was out of town when her son threw the party without her approval, said a male officer came into the house to talk to her son and to tell partygoers to leave. Roberson said her son told her there was no drinking in the house.

Neighbors said independently that they heard four or five shots from what sounded like a pistol or small gun and that the sounds appeared to be coming from Shepherd Lane, a street that intersects with Baron Drive. They said there was a pause before another two or three shots, and then, a "bam bam bam" that sounded like it was coming from a large gun, possibly a rifle.

The neighbors said they didn't see who fired the shots. Daniels said she saw an officer run toward the gunfire after the first round.

Haber offered his condolences to the teen's family.

"On behalf of the entire Balch Springs Police Department, and the city of Balch Springs we express our deep, sincere condolences to the family," he said. "We will continue to reach out to the parents and keep them informed as we move forward from this point."

Haber said he did not have any information about whether weapons were found in the vehicle.

That means no weapons were found in the car

Apparently someone at the party that was interviewed said the kids in the car heard gun shots and they decided to leave but they didnt know the police had shown up

Was he wearing a bodycam?

This feels like a situation where a bodycam would be very helpful. For all parties.
