Very "modern art", frame it, hang it, tell people you paid thousands for it to an up and coming artist who's name was Jákc Nūstov.

I have to move something off the burner about once a week, and politely remind my wife that it is unsafe to use the stove as a countertop.

Restaurant kitchen rules 101: Nothing goes on the stove top that isn't a pot/pan/wok/something made to be used on stove tops.

My learning experience: I blew up a glass dish (at home) by setting it on a hot burner I thought I turned off, sending hot grease and glass everywhere. The ham that was in it shot up about six inches and landed directly on the burner then caught on fire.

Edit: parentheses for clarity.

Edit 2: bunch of pedants
