Misty's story:

We saw her photos on the shelter's website when we were dog searching. It's extremely competitive to get a shelter dog in LA (we're almost a no-kill county!) so the minute she wasn't "on hold" anymore, we were at the shelter waiting to apply. If more than one person shows up for a dog, they have a raffle and the winner gets the dog (I'm not making this up). But no one else came for her, so we got to take her home!

She had to get spayed right away (she was 1.5 and had already had puppies...). She was shy and super scared of every move and noise in our apartment. The first night, the only thing she seemed to want was belly rubs, so we rubbed her tummy and watched Lady and the Tramp together on the floor :)

She didn't eat for a week, which was scary because she was very underweight. She didn't wag her tail for almost a month. It took her two days to pee and nearly a WEEK to poop because she was so scared of being outside.

Now, she's totally adjusted! She gained five pounds and we trimmed down the fur on the bottoms of her paws so she doesn't slip around on tile and hardwood so much. She's learned how to walk on a leash, go up and down stairs, and jump up onto our couch to do her most favorite thing - CUDDLE! We go on jogs and hikes all the time. She started out not knowing any tricks, and now she knows almost 15! She occasionally goes through our trash when we're gone, but that's obviously just to make sure nothing is poisonous.

She is our sweet, beautiful, angelic little doggie who has never done anything wrong. We love her to pieces :)
