Ah the old Kraken. The mythical monster, enormous squid. There is probably some sense of reality associated with this wonderful creature, as I think ancient mariners probably found a Giant Squid or maybe a Humboldt Squid washed up on a shore; maybe even live near a ship but I'm not sure sure about that one. They thought well, if one that big exists then there must be bigger ones out there somewhere and those ships that went out have never come back so maybe it was a giant squid that ate them.
That's the beauty of these ancient stories and lore, there just filled with rich diverse accounts of these amazing monsters, that today we all assume is nonsense but back then must have really scared the dickens out of people about to go out on a voyage; you know maybe this time I'm going to get eaten by a giant squid, holy shit!
