Also, pretty sure salmon and elephants don't live in the same regions...

As much as I don't like Bear Grylls because of the ridiculous, dangerous shit he teaches, I would imagine the the vast majority of people that DO end up in survival situations simply won't have Mears' knowledge, skills, and ability to make a nice salmon dinner.

A lot of those who end up in a real survival situation won't have fishing line on them and will likely have no idea how to make their own cordage.

I have numerous friends who go hiking frequently and enjoy camping but rely almost entirely on modern gadgets. Some of them would have literally no idea what to do if they got lost out there and had to provide food for themselves and even if they thought of fishing, they don't carry any tools or knowledge that would enable them to do so.

Under all the glitz, glam, and hollywood fakery, one thing you CAN take away from Bear Grylls' show is to think creatively if you need water or food and literally have no other options. I think the biggest disclaimer with Grylls, other than don't do the physically dangerous shit, is that a lot of his food and water examples should only be considered as absolutely worst case, last option, going to starve or die of thirst otherwise scenarios.

I think what Grylls is ATTEMPTING to teach underneath all the stupid entertainment crap is that people who AREN'T prepared or trained or practiced in survival at all CAN find alternatives for nourishment other than hunting, trapping, fishing etc.

The name of the show is not man survives wild

The name of the show is Man vs Wild

It's a show about Bear Grylls punching nature in the face
