Yeah, I read this article, he died soon after this. The hospital went against protocol to let him smoke outside to fulfill his last wish. Respect to everyone involved.
My mom died of terminal cancer in the liver a few years back, on her final day she asked for a coke and the nurse said no, we obviously said fuck this nurse and got my mom that coke, I miss you mom. This picture is awesome.
When I was an aid we had a patient that wasn't gonna last much longer. They were getting everything ready to move him to an area better equipped to make him as comfortable as possible. I walked in to get his blood pressure and the rest of his vitals and him and his son had just opened a beer. I smiled and said I'm just here to get your vitals. He laughed. When I was done I asked if he needed anything and he told me he was ready and just wanted time with his son. Told him you got it. 2ish hours later he went. He son hugged me and told me thanks. Told him I understand and I'm sorry. Between that sadness and cleaning overweight fuckers and OD patients all night, I couldn't do it anymore. Going back to serving.
