Thats what I would do in Arma, turn terrain detail off so I can see people crawling in fields.

Not sure if it's still the case, but in Starcraft 2 there was a huge advantage to setting your graphics to lowest possible because it made cloaked units far easier to see. Not to mention, it removed all the distracting death animations.

Until you play counterstrike where smokes are opaque until you turn graphics up
