Nickelodeon has announced a new Invader Zim TV movie is in the works.

Original series creator Jhonen Vasquez is working on the movie, which will be roughly 90 minutes long. The story follows Zim as he attempts to once again take over the world by creating a new, Earth-destroying plan. Zim's also looking to finally impress his Irken Leaders, the Almighty Tallest.

Most of the series' original voice cast is returning, including Richard Horvitz as Invader Zim, Rosearik Rikke Simons as Zim’s robot servant GIR, Andy Berman as Zim’s arch-enemy Dib, and Melissa Fahn as Gaz, Dib’s menacing younger sister. Additional casting will be announced in the next few months. No release date has been set yet.

Nickelodeon is also working on a Hey Arnold! TV movie titled Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie. The movie will premiere sometime this year and pick up right where the series left off in 2004, finally revealing the location of Arnold's missing parents.

Someone at Nick saw how good the Samurai Jack revival is doing.

From what I understand, the people who used to run Nickelodeon really shit on the show and him. When new people came in as head of Nick they started running reruns and it had a big spike in popularity again (because the writing is really good and it still holds up). This led to talks about bringing Invader Zim back in some way. Then there was nothing until Don vs. Raph. He must have been testing the waters a bit before jumping in again with Invader Zim. Can't say I blame him.

At least Jhonen is on board, and from what I hear the comic line has been pretty good, so hopefully this works out.
