Monopoly is not fun. It's a game where you leverage chance based on 2die6 rolls and crush anyone unlucky enough to still be making the rounds. It's an inherently American game, with clear winners who get everything(every-thing) and clear losers who eat shit and are ground into dust.
If you enjoy playing board games with friends or family, playing Monopoly will make everyone not want to play board games ever again.
Play Settlers of Cattan, Carcassonne, Resistance (actual engaging fun with bluffing). Or crack open a book and play D&D, because new editions of the game are easier and beating up monsters is much more fun than beating eachother at games of "you owe me money".
