Sonam Wangchuk, Indian Engineer and Environmentalist, and Asia's largest honour Ramsay Award winner, well known for his work in Ladakh recently took up to hunger strike in the end of June after the suicide of 20 children. Demanding accountability and resignation from education minister. The ministry and government were silent, so many GEN Z protesters took to the roads and started peaceful protests all over India after Sonam joined them with sole purpose of Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation from Education Minister post.

The peaceful protest was met with Sticks from Delhi police, however on such depressive turn of events, the situation caught immense heat and on 25th July, 2026, the education minister resigned ending the 26 days long HUNGER STRIKE.

I was there at one of the protest rallies and I heard him speak, this was right before he went on hunger strike. I think his involvement and his hunger strike were instrumental in rallying mass support against the BJP's stubborn refusal to remove Dharmendra Pradhan. His hunger strike was undoubtedly a big part of the success of the protests.
