Nintendo Switch 2 has now reached another big milestone in Japan.
According to tracking data from Game Data Library (via Famitsu), Nintendo Switch 2 has now sold 6,026,931 units in Japan after just 13 months on sale.
By comparison, the PlayStation Vita sold around 5.99 million units during its full lifespan in Japan, where it stayed on the market for about eight years, until 2019.
What makes this even more impressive is that the Nintendo Switch 2 reached the same sales in just 13 months, while the PlayStation Vita needed almost eight years.
After reaching 6 million units sold, the Switch 2 is now closing in on the Nintendo Switch Lite, which has sold just under 7 million units in Japan.
Nintendo Switch 2 is also selling faster than the original Nintendo Switch did.
During its first full fiscal year after launch, Nintendo shipped 19.86 million Switch 2 units worldwide, compared to around 14.89 million units sold by the original Nintendo Switch during the same period, which means the Switch 2 is already ahead by nearly 5 million units. »
