Just FYI this wall predates Trump by quite a bit, it was built during Operation Gatekeeper (a Clinton initiative in 1994). It worked in the sense that it lowered crossings in California, by pushing migrants to take the more dangerous desert routes into Arizona. The same, if not more migrants, still attempt to enter the US, but a lot more die.
