"They hate us for our freedoms!" - Dubya.

Social media was relatively nascent at the time, but there were Iraqi bloggers who wrote in English. Salam Pax wrote about American soldiers raiding his home at gunpoint and telling him his family was suspicious because someone reported they had Africans in their home and therefore must be working with insurgents; he had to explain in English to the Americans that they had a repair man over and with all due respect Americans are too dumb to know that Iraqis from Basra in the south are darker than Iraqis in Baghdad. He also had stories about how Americans would stop and frisk him on the street because he was frowning, and he was frowning because it was crazy hot in Iraq during the summer.

Another blogger, an Iraqi woman who went by the username Riverbend, talked about how postwar they lacked electricity and safety, while watching Bush lie on TV about how happy Iraqis are now.
