I get the frustration but I feel like a person who just lets their dog shit all over the neighborhood is not going to be shamed by a sign calling them on their (dog) shit

the is a pet peeve of mine. I've always wondered the psychology of people that do this. then one day out on a trail I see one bag of dogshit in the trail... then another. right in the middle of the trail! I get to the top of the trail and there's a woman there with her dog. she waves, I wave back. I assume it's her but give her the benefit of the doubt and ride on. I finish the trail and turn back. I run into her again but this time I notice the same printed shitbags being carried by her dog on a little collar tote. so I stop, and indirectly ask why some people leave their poo bags in the middle of the trail. she makes no attempt at avoiding her guilt. she says that it's easier for her to remember to pick them up on the way back. "but it's in the middle of the trail", I state, flummoxed. she replies, "I see other people do it all the time". truly at a loss for words I literally hung my head in frustration and took a moment and rode on. I didn't want to ruin her day or mine. I rode back down the trail once again passing those stupid piles of shit still sitting in the middle of the trail.

I expected somebody more sociopathic. someone intent on harming the world. in a way it was a let down to see my mysterious shitty adversary on the trails was just some middle-aged woman oblivious to how her actions affected others. lost in her own little world. dropping shitbags like breadcrumbs.
