Studio MDHR just delivered one of many exciting announcements we are sure to see at Summer Games Fest 2026: A hand-animated Cuphead sequel is in the works! It seems it will carry on the run ‘n gun, boss gauntlet spirit of the original.
In addition to this, a spinoff 8-bit action platformer titled Mighty Cuphead Adventure will also be releasing. The announcement spoofed the 1991 Sonic The Hedgehog commercial combined with a box art that recalled Super Mario Bros. 2. Actual footage of the throwback platformer was shown as well and it doesn’t look too far removed from, say, Shovel Knight. The game is confirmed for PC, consoles and even what looks like a Sega Master System.
New Cuphead game and Mighty Cuphead Adventure release dates

I did see something about Sega potentially building a retro inspired console. I wonder if it’s a “new” master system
