Donald Trump needs to watch out as one writer of The Simpsons is hoping to challenge his presidency.

Dan Greaney, the TV writer who predicted Trump's presidency in the cartoon sitcom, has taken to Instagram to announce his bid for the 2028 presidency. In a video shared on Tuesday, May 26, Dan wore a wizard costume as he criticized the Trump administration.

He also hit out at billionaires, Democrats and Republicans. "The United States was founded on a transcendental insight: that all men are created equal. But now, Trump, Vance, the billionaires, careerists and cowards in both parties, have turned their backs on it," Dan began. He shared the post as Trump has been warned he's displaying symptoms that could increase a risk of dementia.

Dan continued to hit out at politicians, suggesting "it's money, power and security for them, but not for you." He then pointed out, "In America, the government is supposed to work for everyone," before urging, "We must restore this."

The Simpsons writer described himself as a "self-proclaimed prophet" in the video, before saying, "Screw it, I can be a politician. I'm running for president." As he said this, Dan ripped off his wizard costume to reveal a black suit underneath.

Dan said his platform will offer an "America for all," before urging fans, "Let's do this." His followers rushed to the Instagram comments to share their thoughts on his bid for the White House.

"I love this and I think you should use the Moses outfit for campaigning," one person suggested. Another fan wrote, "DAN for the presidency!!!"

A third Instagram user admitted, "That is a plot twist I didn’t see coming!" while someone else said, "A person with a soul and common sense . I would vote for you."

Dan is running for president as an independent on a "progressive Republican" platform. According to his Instagram page, he's advocating for universal healthcare and a return to morals.

Away from politics, the writer is perhaps best known for predicting Trump's bid for the White House 16 years before it even happened. In an episode of The Simpsons written by Dan, Lisa Simpson is seen being elected president and inheriting financial problems from a then-fictional Trump administration.

Dan addressed the episode in a previous Instagram post. He said, "In that episode, I hinted that the Trump administration had failed, leaving President Lisa Simpson to pick up the pieces.

"I now have a shocking new prediction: the end is near for the Trump presidency. It will happen in spectacular fashion. His fall will be unambiguous and universally acknowledged."

Dan suggested Trump "will be removed from office," before adding, "It’s risky to put a date on it, but I have to call it like I foresee it. So I’m going to say by the end of the year. And we will move on as a nation and a people united."

He didn't predict anything, Trump has been threatening to run since the 80s.

It used to be a running joke him and Al Sharpton would run almost every year, even though almost no one voted for either of them.
