Funny how strongly I can feel this image. I guess that makes it a very effective piece of art. It's not good feelings, but it's so goddamn real.
Just spit balling for a minute: He's not scared of this monstrosity; this technological obstacle that looks like it's supposed to be helpful. It looks like road rage. Like somebody just couldn't take it anymore. That kind of anger wells up and floods the brain before you can think. It's an ongoing frustration that has boiled over, and he's utilizing old tactics and tools to try to control the situation. It's a desperate act of madness justified by the frustration with this thing literally blocking the way forward.
But it isn't a monster. He's not scared of it. He's trying to intimidate it. He's demanding that rightfullness be restored. Get out of my way, you beast! But you wouldn't pull a gun on a buffalo or a moose. This guy is letting his hatred guide his anger.
But the thing doesn't look scared. It just looks dumb. It's not evil, the evil is in the ludicrousness that made this situation possible. The world must be so bizarre for the driver to act this way.
