So what happens to all of the aircraft that are sitting at active airports? They just sit there until they’re sold, bankruptcy proceedings finish, etc…??
In 1982, Braniff International Airlines arranged their flight schedules over a period of days to discreetly terminate at their headquarters. Any planes they still had out the day before were told at the last minute to return home empty. Somehow, this gave them a better stance when negotiating with their creditors.
