We buy them from the second hand stores for my daughter at a fraction of the price of the stores. We also swap between friends. Books are awesome.

To be fair, if my parents had bought me every book I wanted to read they'd have gone bankrupt.
If you can't afford it, take her to a library. Or get her an e-reader, a lot of libraries let you virtually borrow books now too.
