“A whole civilisation will die tonight,” Donald Trump has warned ahead of his deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
People in Iran are forming human chains along bridges and around power plants in response to President Trump’s threats to destroy infrastructure, videos and photographs posted by state and other local media showed.
Yesterday, Trump warned that “the entire country can be taken out in one night” if a deal to reopen the vital waterway is not agreed by 8pm ET tonight (1am BST on Wednesday).
Reaffirming his threat in a post on Truth Social today, the US President wrote: “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.
“However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?
“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”
This comes after Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that Kharg Island, an oil export hub located some 25 kilometres off the Iranian coast, was hit by “several strikes”.
One senior US official told Axios that the American military was behind the attack.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said earlier today that it had “completed a wide-scale wave of strikes targeting dozens of infrastructure sites belonging to the Iranian terror regime” across Iran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said it will scrap all considerations of restraint when retaliating to US-Israeli strikes across the Middle East.
According to the semi-official Fars news agency, the IRGC said in a statement: “America’s regional partners should also know that up until now, out of respect for neighbourly relations, we have exercised considerable restraint and taken considerations into account when selecting targets for retaliation. However, from now on, all these considerations have been lifted.”

This is, without a doubt, the most horrific thing he's ever said.
And it's not even close.
The whole world should be outraged right now.
Edit: I understand that you, as a person reading this comment, are already outraged.
