Those aren't pipes, they are tubes, commonly referred to as "tube stock." Pipes are meant to carry some materials inside them and are generally assembled with fittings. Tube stock is used for structural things depending on size/thickness, frames, brackets, trailers, etc. they generally don't have standardized fittings for joining. And yes there is overlap between pipes and tubes. Pipes used with flanges and certain brackets can be used structurally and tube stock can be used to hold fluids.
