UPDATE: Professional Quadruple Amputee Cornhole Player Arrested in Connection to Murder in Charles County

UPDATE 3/23/2026 @ 10:54 A.M.: On March 22 at 10:25 p.m., officers with the La Plata Police Department were flagged down by two people near the area of La Plata Road and Radio Station Road in La Plata.

A preliminary investigation revealed the witnesses were in the back seat of a car when the driver, Dayton James Webber, 27, of La Plata, shot and killed the front seat passenger during an argument.

Webber pulled over in the area of Radio Station Road and Llano Drive and asked the passengers to help pull the victim out of the car; however, the witnesses refused, got out of the car, and left the scene.

Webber then fled with Wells still in the car. All occupants of the car are known to each other. Charles County Sheriff’s patrol officers responded and assisted in canvassing the locations to which Webber may have fled.

Nearly two hours later, a resident in the 10000 block of Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall, MD called 9-1-1 to report a body in a yard.

Officers responded and found the victim, Bradrick Michael Wells, 27, of Waldorf was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for Webber’s arrest, and located Webber’s car in Charlottesville, Virginia. Webber was found at a nearby hospital seeking treatment for a medical issue.

Upon being released from the hospital, Webber was arrested by officers with the Albemarle County Police Department and was charged as a fugitive from justice. He is awaiting extradition to Charles County where he will be charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related charges.

Webber has previous arrest history for impaired driving, after striking a police car and building in St. Mary’s County.

3/23/2026: On Sunday, March 22, 2026, at approximately 10:40 p.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the area of La Plata Road and Radio Station Road in La Plata, for the reported shooting.

Dispatchers advised the 911 caller reported a male was shot in the head while in a vehicle at the given location.

While investigating the incident. Police determined the 911 caller, the suspect, and the gunshot victim were all reportedly in the vehicle when the suspect, who was driving the vehicle, shot the front seat passenger in the head.

The suspect was described as a white male with no arms or legs. The caller was able to escape from the Tesla and provide police with the suspect’s information. Police and hospitals in PG, St. Mary’s County, and Virginia were notified to be on the lookout/on standby for the victim and suspect vehicle.

The suspect, who is known to law enforcement, was later tracked via his cell phone and the vehicle he was driving. Starting around 11 p.m., and onwards, police in King George, Spotsylvania County, and Charlottesville, Virginia, were able to assist in tracking the suspects movement. Police in Charles County were able to confirm the vehicle, a white 2022 Tesla, had a broken passenger window, which was later located in the early hours of Monday, March 23, 2026, when the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect had posted videos and a photo of the vehicle on his personal Snapchat account the same day in St. Mary’s County, Maryland.

Early Monday morning, police located the victim when a resident in the 10000 block of Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall, had called 911 to report a body laying in the neighbors yard.

Police arrived on the scene to confirm a male victim laying deceased on the property, and connected the victims clothing description to the shooting that was dispatched at 10:40 p.m., which is just 9.9 miles away in La Plata.

The homicide is actively under investigation and further updates will be provided when they suspect and victims identity are released. There is no threat to the community.
