EXCLUSIVE: Fred Rogers‘ unique brand of compassionate kids TV is coming to YouTube.

Fred Rogers Productions and Little Dot Studios have teamed to bring Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood to a dedicated YouTube channel – the first time the iconic children’s TV series has taken the route.

As part of the agreement, All3Media-owned Little Dot’s team in the U.S. will work with Fred Rogers Productions to launch and manage the channel, providing strategic insight, content curation and paid media services. The channel will include full-length episodes and a collection of repurposed digital-first content, including clips, shorts and compilations.

“Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood continues to inspire viewers young and old across four generations,” said Paul Siefken, President and CEO of Fred Rogers Productions. “We’re excited to partner with Little Dot Studios on this new YouTube Channel that will make the wonder, kindness, and human connection of the series more discoverable and accessible than ever.”

“Built on the legacy of Fred Rogers, Fred Rogers Productions continues to set the standard for thoughtful, values-driven children’s media,” added Ben Arnold, Co-Managing Director of Little Dot Studios U.S. “As huge fans of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, we’re honored to bring our digital distribution experience to this partnership, building an intentional, audience-first presence on YouTube where these iconic stories can reach the next generation.”

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood ran on U.S. TV between 1968 to 2001, primarily aimed at preschoolers. each episode would see Rogers talk directly to the viewer about various topics, taking them on tours and demonstrating how various items work, while also interviewing local people. Segments with puppetry and behind-the-scenes footage were also included.

Besides Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, the non-profit Fred Rogers Productions makes the likes of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Donkey Hodie, and Alma’s Way, and its YouTube channel launch is part of a longer-term digital strategy. Rogers himself passed away in 2003.

London-based Little Dot Studios operates more than 1,000 social channels, and has worked in kids content with the likes of PBS Kids and Hidden Pigeon Company. In January, it named Arnold and Charles Wideska as its U.S. bosses.

As a 38 year old man I'll be watching this just to remind myself of a time when I didn't hate living.
