Russia is helping Iran to use advanced tactics of using drones obtained during the war against Ukraine to hit targets in the United States and the Persian Gulf states. This was reported by the channel CNN citing an unnamed Western intelligence official.

The Shahed drones, developed by Iran but mass-produced by Russia for use against Ukraine, unexpectedly successfully penetrated the air defense system of the Gulf states.

Russian intelligence sharing with Iran has so far been considered general assistance in identifying targets, but specific tactical advice is a new level of support.

"What used to be called general support is now a growing concern, including the drone strike strategies that Russia has been using in Ukraine," the source said.

Although the official declined to specify the tactical assistance involved, Russia has used drones against Ukraine in waves, with several drones flying simultaneously and regularly changing course to avoid air defense. CNN has reached out to the Kremlin for comment.

The official also said that China's support for Iran is a concern, but declined to provide details.

The consequences of the escalation in the Middle East have already had an impact on the situation in the region and the world, including Ukraine. LIGA.net explained that the scenarios of this conflict mean for Kyivand also analyzed whether there might be a shortage of fuel, which has risen rapidly in price.

The WSJ wrote that in response to the US-Israeli operation, Iran launched hundreds of drone strikes against Arab states in the Persian Gulf, damaging US bases and critical infrastructure. During the attacks, Tehran copied Russian tactics.

WP reported that since the beginning of the operation, Russia has been passing on information to Iran about the location of US military facilities, including ships and airplanes.

On March 6, Trump reacted negatively to a question about Russia's possible assistance to Iran, and Hegseth said that Washington was highly aware of the the possibility of contacts with Moscow in this regard.

On March 10, Witkoff said that Putin during a conversation with Trump denied information about intelligence sharing with Iran.
