I didn’t live in NYC on 9/11 but I lived there when the memorial opened. I think it’s such a great piece of public art. Really captures the feeling of loss we all shared, whether or not we personally knew someone who died on that day. It’s kind of like we all collectively mourned your sister… I have no idea whether there’s any sense of comfort in that, but I hope so.

Her name is Katherine McGarry Noack. She was my little sister.
I visit the memorial whenever I can. The rain that day felt fitting.
In two weeks, I’m riding my bicycle across the United States in her honor.
