President Trump’s erratic social-media posting late at night is evidence that he is suffering early symptoms of dementia, Gavin Newsom has suggested.
The Democratic governor of California has promoted the theory that Trump is “sundowning”, the phenomenon when elderly people become confused in hours of darkness.
Trump, who turns 80 in June, has dismissed questions about his health and contrasted his physical strength with his predecessor Joe Biden’s frailty. He has said he “aced” three cognitive tests while in office.

Newsom, who is viewed as a likely presidential candidate in 2028, began questioning Trump’s mental acuity last year.
