Portland, Oregon, mayor demands ICE exit after tear gas incident at peaceful protest | AP News

"Easy you just don't lead 'em as much" - DHS on teargassing women and children

stay peaceful, it makes them monsters.

EDIT FOR NON AMERICANS: apparently, it was a memorial bike ride, ask DHS why they teargassed it not why there were kids there. And for the record most protests in this country are family affairs, especially on the best coast.

People in the comments missing that this was not a protest. This was at a memorial bike ride

Land of the free.... Lots of comments here about where children should be so as to not be gassed on the streets by authorities. What a strange era to be watching the United States go through. Though I guess they could avoid being shot at schools by not going to school so maybe that's the same line of thought.

I was once at a city Council meeting -i brought my son- where a fight broke out and police had to drag people out. I had people asking me why I would bring my son to a city Council meeting. That's the wrong question in my mind. The correct question should be: "why is participating in the public sphere unsafe for anyone?".

Edit: I don't know how awards work but I have two clapping hands things. Before anyone spends money on awards just give it instead to your local civil rights centre, wherever you are, whatever country you're in.
