A federal judge has granted a request from state and local officials to prevent federal officials from destroying or altering any evidence related to the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office (HCAO) and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) filed a joint lawsuit and motion for a temporary restraining order Saturday night in an effort to force federal agents to maintain any evidence related to the shooting.

It came after Homeland Security officials again prevented state investigators from inspecting the scene where Pretti was fatally shot by a Border Patrol agent on Saturday.
Federal authorities did the same thing after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot Renee Good earlier this month.

Numerous state and local officials, including Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, have called on President Donald Trump and federal authorities to let the state conduct its own investigation into the shootings. However, federal agents continue to prevent that from happening.
Late Saturday night, U.S. District Court Judge Eric Tostrud granted the BCA’s and HCAO’s temporary restraining order request and set a hearing for Monday afternoon to allow the federal government to argue its position and discuss further actions moving forward.

It's absolutely ridiculous that a judge felt the need to order the authorities "hey don't destroy the evidence of that murder we all saw, pretty please"

The fact this has to be ordered - and that the order will be ignored - says it all.
