Details: In a 20 January social media post, Trump released excerpts from his correspondence with Macron in which the French president said he was puzzled by Washington's actions regarding Greenland. Macron also proposed holding a G7 meeting in Paris on 22 January and inviting Ukraine, Russia, Denmark and Syria, and suggested that he and Trump meet for dinner.

Asked about the leak, Macron said he takes responsibility for his actions and his words.

Quote: "I take responsibility for everything I do. I tend to be consistent in what I say in public and in what I do in private."

More details: Asked whether he considers the US president's move "impolite", Macron said he would leave that for others to judge.

Macron was also asked whether he would meet Trump in Davos. He said no, explaining that he will have left by the time the US president arrives.

However, Macron said they may still have a chance to speak at a G7 summit.

Quote: "That might be an opportunity. But I think we must remain extremely calm and stay on our course. Especially on the economic front, we must keep moving forward to deliver stronger growth in Europe, defend our interests when rules are not respected, and stand by our friends when they are being pressured."

Honestly kinda respect Macron for that. If someone leaks your private messages to dunk on you and your response is just “yeah I meant it,” that’s a power move. Trump leaking DMs is very on brand too. None of this is surprising anymore, just messy.
