One year long ago my wife and I were not really in the Christmas Spirit and didnt really have a lot of spare money for a tree, so we opted to not have a tree that year.
A couple days before Christmas I realized I really needed something or I'd be depressed all season long, so on the way home from work I saw some tree branches someone had cut and piled at the curb for trash day.
I grabbed one, brought it home, and we hung lights and a few ornaments on that fucker and had our "Christmas Branch" that we put a few presents under. It really made the holiday 100% better.
