Details: Welcoming the Ukrainian president, Tusk also paid personal tribute to Zelenskyy, saying that "your fight is our common fight".

"You are a hero not only in Ukraine, but here in Poland [we] also treat you as a hero," the Polish prime minister said.

Tusk later reiterated his previous comment that Ukraine's fight against Russia is also protecting Poland's independence, which could otherwise be under threat if Russia were enabled to win the war.

In response, Zelenskyy echoed the sentiment, saying: "The scariest thing for Russia is if we are together. Because they definitely cannot defeat the two of us."

Ahead of his meeting with Tusk, Zelenskyy held his first bilateral meeting with Poland's new president, Karol Nawrocki, who said that the visit by his Ukrainian counterpart was good news for Warsaw and Kyiv and bad news for Moscow .

Nawrocki also said that issues of national memory were among the key topics during his talks with Zelenskyy in Warsaw, and that Poland hopes they will be resolved quickly.

Zelenskyy added that without an independent Ukraine, Moscow would come for Poland next.

Zelenskyy is right. A truly unified Eastern flank, from the Baltics to the Black Sea, is Putin's ultimate geopolitical nightmare. It's the one outcome his "divide and conquer" strategy is designed to prevent.
