Details: Stubb initially planned to travel to Texas in the United States, but the trip has been cancelled "due to the critical situation in Ukraine".

Instead, Stubb will travel to Germany and join a meeting focused on a possible ceasefire in Ukraine.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has invited representatives of the United States to take part in the talks.

The invitation followed a tense phone call on Wednesday between Merz, Macron, Starmer and Donald Trump, during which the parties sought to overcome differences over the direction of peace efforts.

Trump later acknowledged there had been disagreements , saying that "pretty strong words" were exchanged during the conversation, highlighting differences over the approach supported by the US.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will meet with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin this coming weekend, the WSJ reports.

I guess he wasn't in the mood to hand over five years of social media posts and DNA records.
