Polish President cancels meeting with Orban following his visit to Putin

The announcement was made by Marcin Przydacz , head of the Bureau of International Policy at the Chancellery of the Polish President.

Polish president Karol Nawrocki has decided to cancel a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban following Orban's visit to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

On Wednesday, December 3, Nawrocki will travel on a two-day visit to Hungary to participate in a summit of Visegrad Group leaders.

On Thursday, the Polish president, accompanied by his wife, was scheduled to make an official visit to Budapest and hold meetings, including with Orban.

Przydacz said Nawrocki consistently advocates seeking real ways to end Russia's war in Ukraine.

"Following the legacy of President Lech Kaczyński, who emphasized that Europe's security depends on united action, including in the energy sector, and in light of Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s visit to Moscow and its context, President Nawrocki has decided to limit his Hungary visit program solely to the Visegrad Group presidents’ summit in Esztergom," Przydacz said.

He added that at the summit, alongside the presidents of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary, Nawrocki will discuss regional security and cooperation in Central Europe.

On November 28, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived in Moscow and met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

During the meeting, Orban stated that Hungary is ready to provide a venue for negotiations on Ukraine.

Putin, in turn, did not rule out that talks between Russia and the US could lead to a "peace summit" in Budapest.

Later, the Hungarian prime minister said that ending the war is only possible if Ukraine returns to the status of a "buffer zone." He also accused European leaders of allegedly seeking to prolong the conflict for financial gain.
