I have lots of sentimental ornaments my kids made when they were little. They're my favorites too.
I had to toss the ones they made from homemade plaster (flower, water, salt - then bake). Mice got into the Christmas storage cabinet in my garage and decided those ornaments were 'salty dough snacks'.
A German friend of mine made me an ornament from half a walnut shell when I was pregnant with my first born. It is a cradle with a baby in it and it has a wooden bead with a face drawn on it and a little red blanket and there is some gold glitter on the shell. I guess it is a German tradition. I have had it for twenty-six years and it is one of my favorite ornaments.
