And Private Eye isn’t your typical “news publication” — it’s a satirical magazine, with a lot of humour ranging from the sophisticated to the very crude, but also a lot of fairly serious political reporting mixed in, prodding at scandals and especially political corruption stories (big and small) that the bigger newspapers don’t touch. No particular party-political affiliation.
The editor of Private Eye Ian Hislop captains a team on the comedy panel show "Have I Got News for You" on the BBC, which always starts each episode with "the top stories of the week" (or at least the ones they want to make jokes about). In late 2016 when the US election result came out, the host announced "In the news this week..." and then just screamed in anguish down the camera for about ten seconds in a single continuous breath.
Honestly, this sentiment was common at the time with anyone who knew anything about Trump, and he's only confirmed all our worst fears as time has gone on.

It’s from 2016, for context: https://www.reddit.com/r/PrivateEye/comments/56xhkq/eye_1429_cover_from_hope_to_grope/
