They’ll definitely be looking to come down hard on him, and if they can prove their case, he should definitely spend a lot of time in prison.
That said, for a defense attorney, the key detail their going to hone in on is the 6 day gap between when this guy is alleged to have set the fire and when the raging palisades fire started. Add to that there being reports of transmission lines sparking in the hours before the Palisades fire started to really spread. The prosecution will have public outrage on their side, but the case hardly seems like a slam dunk.

Sounds like he started a fire on purpose but had no intention of it getting that out of hand. What an absolute idiot. Also apparently there was another separate fire that could also be at fault/the cause. I remember years ago a kid started a fire that did hundreds of millions of dollars in damages and he was put on the hook for all of it.
