President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, citing intelligence data, has stated that Russian forces are using tankers to launch and control drones in European countries.
Quote: "It is especially important that sanctions hit painfully at Russia's energy trade and the entire infrastructure of Russia's tanker fleet.
Moreover, intelligence now indicates that the Russians are using tankers to launch and operate drones against European countries.
This is yet more evidence why the Baltic Sea and other seas must be closed to Russian tankers β at the very least to the shadow fleet."
Details: Zelenskyy also emphasised that Ukraine is counting on "strong steps from the United States".
"We discussed with President Trump what could truly push Russia to change its position and stop the war. The world has tools that can work in a genuinely peace-making way," he added.
On 10 September, nearly two dozen Russian drones entered Polish airspace in its first large-scale intrusion of the state. Some drones entered up to 300 kilometres deep from the eastern border.
On 18 September, Ukraine and Poland agreed to form a joint working group on unmanned aerial systems, comprising members of the Ukrainian and Polish armed forces.
This week, several airports in Denmark, as well as Oslo airport, were closed after drones appeared in the sky. On 27 September, Schiphol airport β the main airport in the Netherlands β closed a runway after a drone was spotted there.
On 26 September, Vilnius airport suspended operations twice due to a suspected drone threat .
Russia denies launching drones into European countries .

Would be nice, the Russian (shadow) fleet usually isn't marked as Russian, so sinking it wouldn't be lead to problems, since it's not officially Russian...

That's very unsafe. Tankers are known to catch fire and sink. Especially when european aircraft shoot Exocets at them
