Vegas started dying when it became a millionaire’s paradise. Vegas is where you used to go to foolishly bring your dreams of escaping the middle class, willingly living in the fantasy of possible riches until Sunday rolled around and you had to return home a few grand lighter. Now you have to already be rich to enjoy the city. Gone are the easily comped shows, rooms, and cheap food. Before the 2010s, seeing a concert for full price was impossible unless you were oblivious to how the city worked. A few hours at any table over $20 min, and the pit boss was offering you a room, a show, and a voucher for the buffet. Now, unless you’re betting high for days, you’ll be lucky to get a 5% coupon to see a comedy show. Last time I was there I bought a mediocre cheesesteak sandwich and a bottle of water for $40 and the pit boss closed down a full low-minimum craps table because we were on a roll. Las Vegas is dead.
I was just out there for work. Everything is so expensive. Crazy expensive. There used to be buffets and lower cost options for food and drinks used to be reasonably priced to keep you in the casino but that’s all gone now.
A Vegas trip is as expensive as going to Europe now. I can’t imagine willingly deciding to go to Vegas when I could go to the islands or Europe for the same price. Fuck that.

Everyone blames Canada, but nobody mentions that Las Vegas is apparently simply getting worse.
Prices go up and to compensate quality goes down.
