My uncle was there. He said it was the worst day of his life. He stormed Omaha Beach, his friend died next him, he got shot and then continued pushing towards Germany as a guard for the monuments men. He was even awarded a medal from France in recognition of his efforts to help liberate the French people. He passed a few years ago at the age of 100. Truly a great man and I’m sure he would be absolutely disgusted with what is going on in our country today.

My grandfather was there. Told ne once how he saw his friend "ginge" get his legs blown off and bleed out on the beach.
Not something he liked talking about.
