I was a guest there yesterday with my wife. We had a Diamond Late Checkout and wanted to leave for the airport at 2 p.m. At around 11 a.m., we were still lying by the rooftop pool when we were asked to go to our rooms for safety reasons. From above, we saw protesters in front of the hotel starting to throw stones and set barricades on fire. Then the fire alarm went off and we grabbed whatever we could and ran downstairs. Chaos reigned in the backyard as the mob tried to storm the hotel from two sides. My wife was terrified. An American guest was picked up by a local friend, and we then made our way more or less safely through the crowd of protesters with him. The protesters applauded us for abandoning the hotel and conceding victory to them, then they set it on fire. We are currently on the run and trying to leave the country. The military has reportedly taken control during the night, but the situation remains tense.

Per /u/neo_wnd over here.

Two hours ago they provided this update:

The airport is currently closed, and attempting to reach India by land is too dangerous at the moment, as the army has imposed strict restrictions on movement.

Edit: Due to the responses, it's important to emphasize that I am not /u/neo_wnd.
