Dusty Deevers Says The Separation Of Church And State Is 'Blasphemous'
Few elected officials can match Oklahoma state Sen. Dusty Deevers in their desire to see the United States turned into a Christian nationalist theocracy.
Deevers, a far-right pastor and unabashed Christian nationalist who wants to abolish abortion, ban no-fault divorce, outlaw pornography, and literally see this nation taken back to the 1600s, has made no secret of his belief that the fundamental purpose of government is to convert people to Jesus Christ.
Given that view, it was no surprise to hear Deevers declare on a recent episode of the "Finding Your Spine" podcast that the separation of church and state is "blasphemous" and that to support it is to "belittle the Lord Jesus."
"[Jesus] has commissioned us to go and make disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit," Deevers said. "And that means that we are his human agents for extending his dominion, his rule throughout this world, and the nations will be glad through that. So to say that the church and the state are separate in the principle of their authority—and the principle being Jesus Christ—is, I believe, it's blasphemous to say that Jesus Christ isn't Lord of Lords and King of Kings. And that means not just over the home, not just over the church, but in every sphere; and that is to belittle the Lord Jesus and he doesn't take it kindly when we belittle him."
In 2023, Deevers joined radical Christian nationalists Joel Webbon, William Wolfe, and others in drafting a document called “The Statement on Christian Nationalism and the Gospel,” which declared that the United States must formally “acknowledge the Lordship of Christ” in all its laws, “abolish abortion,” outlaw marriage equality, and “recapture our national sovereignty from godless, global entities who present a grave threat to civilization.”
In late 2024, Deevers preached at Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho, which is run by far-right Christian nationalist pastor Douglas Wilson.

Madison intended to protect Americans from the 1500 years of tyranny the Church and Christian rule inflicted on Europe.

Dusty Deevers is an embarrassment to Oklahoma. He would would rather turn America into Iran than actually live in a free society. That in itself should be a disqualifier from public office.
