Today is finally the day, as Hollow Knight: Silksong is out right now! Unfortunately however, the launch is so enormous that it just crashed Steam’s platform on PC. All Steam pages are currently down at the time of writing, including game pages, the store front page, charts and more. The outage coincided precisely with the launch of Silksong, with fans across social media desperate to get into the game with no way to purchase it.
The release of Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most anticipated launches in modern gaming history, especially as the sequel to one of the biggest indie games of all time. There are other ways to play Silksong as you can read for yourself in our launch guide, but for now it seems Steam isn’t an option for PC players. It’s also available on GOG, Humble Bundle and PC Game Pass if you’re a PC user looking for a quicker way to play.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more comes in. Keep your eyes on GameLuster for more Silksong coverage and Steam server updates.

Once again a fantastic release from a small Australian indie studio. They're based in Adelaide but if you're in Melbourne the development will be showcased as part of the upcoming ACMI Game Worlds exhibit from September 18.
Here's an ABC article about the launch

Isn't Hollow Knight an indie platforming game? How is it so big?

That's awesome. I love that for them. This goes to show that quality is everything. Make a good game, and take your time doing it, and fans will come running when it's ready.
I hope Steam has stabilized by the time I get home
