This composite image features Falcon 9's (crewed and uncrewed), Falcon Heavy, and Starship. Starship's successful 10th test flight is the centerpiece of this image. I wanted to tell a story of the massive engineering efforts, both successes and failures (big rocket went boom bottom left) to get where we are today.
Spaceflight in general has come under a lot of criticism, for a number of reasons. People question the need to go to space at all, for example. They might not agree with the use of public funds (don't worry, these were mostly privately funded launches), environmental concerns, or of course are turned off by the very polarizing figurehead of SpaceX. Many criticisms are founded, but just as many aren't.
Despite these caveats, I wanted this image to be a celebration of the achievements of the 10s of thousands of engineers that worked on these projects, a reminder that humans can still do incredible things when we work together.
