Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on Aug. 11 allocating $2 million to the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Azerbaijani media outlet First News Media reported.

The move follows a series of Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure linked to Baku.

During a phone call on Aug. 10, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Aliyev condemned Russian strikes and discussed bilateral energy cooperation. »

The UK will be forced to reduce existing military commitments in order to send troops to Ukraine, an expert and former senior official has said.

The UK Government has remained tightlipped about its plans, including troop numbers and costs, but said in a joint statement yesterday that it stands ready to support peace in Ukraine by “upholding our substantive military and financial support” to Kyiv.
