As an Idahoan who has just come back after 15 years of bouncing around the western US, I am slowly getting traction to open the minds of my Fox News consuming grandparents and parents. It’s been rough and I have to pick my battles. I usually let them just spew what they want and I’m not agreeing or arguing unless it’s absolutely unacceptable. It’s tough to get them to realize the talking points of their favorite show are flawed and have an agenda.
So far I got my 92 year old grandpa to start watching alternative news channels to see both sides. Got both grandparents to agree with me regarding some lies of the current president. Sowing seeds of doubt regarding their “fearless leader”. I have the ultimate test this weekend when I visit my parents house. Luckily I’ll have my cousin from DC visiting and maybe we can join forces to turn it a little less dark red out here. Maybe more purple? At least a lighter tone of red haha.
