Last Saturday, the 2025 Wife-Carrying World Championships took place in Sonkajärvi, Finland for the 28th time–the ultimate test of speed, strength and love.

This year’s event saw one of its largest turnouts ever, with 200 competitors from 18 countries and 2,000 spectators lining up to watch.

The couple also won the 2024 North American Wife-Carrying Championship in Newry, Maine last October.

1 in 3 teens have prediabetes, new CDC data shows

An estimated 1 in 3 teens and preteens, ages 12 to 17, have prediabetes, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC data means an estimated 8.4 million young people -- or 32.7% of the U.S. adolescent population -- had prediabetes in 2023, the most recent data available.

Separate from the new data among teens, new diabetes diagnoses among adults have also stopped decreasing after more than a decade of decline -- with about 1.5 million diagnoses in 2023, the most recent data. »

A group of chimpanzees in Zambia have resurrected an old fashion trend with a surprising new twist.

The chimps, he says, have been putting blades of grass and sticks into their ears and anuses, and simply letting them dangle there for no apparent reason.

In fact, the researchers suspect the chimps learned the behaviour from people — the ear part, that is. »
