I mean, the problem is that Trump and his MAGA goons have essentially redefined "patriotism" as "unwavering love and support for Donald Trump and the Republican party", and anything other than that is being redefined as "un-American" and "radicalism".

America was supposed to be a land of opportunity, freedom, and possibility for advancement or wealth. Instead, we are now the most recent example of the destructive forces of capitalism and racism. I’m not proud of that.

Basically, young Democrats are not proud to be American, as old Republicans are all proud to be American.
I personally think it's because of the blatant corruption, the stripping of human rights, and the transfer of wealth to the already wealthy.
Maybe it's just because they wanted to go to college and actually get a good interesting job that helps people, and that's getting to be impossible.
Maybe it's because young Democrats are likely to live in big cities, and they interact with immigrants constantly, and aren't afraid of them.
Maybe it's because older Republicans are scared, because they're being bombarded with propaganda about how their "culture" is being wiped out.
