Easily one of the coolest things I've ever taken a photo of under the stars. This is from a shoot back in the late Fall while I was speaking at a night photography conference in Kanab, UT.
**This site is located in the Navajo Nation. When visiting, it's very important to be respectful of both the land and allow for local guidance.
Despite arriving late, I had a local guide point me in the right direction, but mostly explored in the dark. Even then, the amount of footprints left here were impossible to miss.
It was such a surreal experience to stand here and try to comprehend that these foot prints were left by actual dinosaurs.
The tracks were verified by paleontologists to have been formed in the early Jurassic period, approximately 200 million years ago. While they can't determine the exact type of dinosaur that left them it can be assumed these footprints belonged to the carnivorous dinosaurs Eubrontes, Grallator, Coelophysis or Dilophosaurus.
This is awesome. You see a mark so rare and so old that the human mind can barely fathom it, yet above it in the sky you can see something inconceivably older every night.
